Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteering On A Regular Basis:
There are many areas around our campus that would benefit from individuals who love to volunteer on a regular basis! If you enjoy mowing, the grounds of the campus is in constant need of care during the warm months. If you are someone who loves to teach a special skill such as sewing, music lessons, mechanic skills, and etc., the kids could benefit from your expertise and practice. Call or email and ask for Jeff Mulpas to discuss possibilities of how you could get involved!
***NOTE: Though we dearly appreciate and depend upon our amazing volunteers who come to serve at Alpha, we will not be able to host any Volunteer Groups from Christmas 2023 until after Easter 2024 (3/31) due to a shortage of staff at this time. We’ll keep this page updated should these circumstances change. We appreciate your patience with this temporary adjustment to our staff load.
Short Term Volunteering / Mission Trips / Service Trips:
If you or your group would like to join us for an afternoon, a day, or several days to tackle a service project, give Jeff Mulpas a call at (785) 597-5235, or e-mail the office, to let him know!
What You’ll Need To Know About Volunteering At Alpha
Cost:
We do not charge a fee for Volunteers to come on campus, like many organizations do for short term missions trips. However, because of this we do not have a set amount of money to do projects with. We ask that each group raise the money needed to accomplish the project that they undertake.
Projects:
We have a list of projects (see Work Dates / Projects page) that we undertake each year. This list changes over time, but we try to have the most updated list on our website. Each group is free to “adopt” a project (or several) to work on as volunteers. When you “adopt” a project you agree to provide the funding for that project. How you come up with that money is up to the group, church or organization. We have projects ranging from no cost to things that are fairly expensive. If you are unsure whether your group is qualified to undertake a certain project, just ask if we have someone that can lead the work. Sometimes, however, a professional may be needed.
Lodging:
We can provide very basic lodging for up to 20 people on our campus. Imagine doing a lock-in at your church; this would be similar to facilities we have to offer in our education building. We suggest air mattresses or cots be brought to lay on the floor which consists of carpet glued down to concrete. Bring bedding, toiletries, towels & wash clothes, and everything else you will need. Because of limited shower facilities, expect to take short showers. For youth groups we can split boys and girls, but there needs to be chaperones for both sexes. The closest hotel/motels are 20-30 minutes away. You are welcome, of course, to lodge in town.
Food:
Alpha does not have a cafeteria. Your group is in charge of bringing & preparing all meals, and cleaning up after each. We have a basic kitchen in our education facility that you will have full access to while you are here. Appliances include one electric range oven, two refrigerators, and an outdoor gas grill.
Volunteer & Medical Waiver of Liability & Agreement Form will need to be completed by each volunteer.
